ARMA Principles Information Update
Join the leaders behind the update in a panel-style discussion for an inside look at the evolution of the ARMA Principles®
The panel will explain the rationale for consolidating the framework from eight Principles to seven, reflecting the modern shift toward integrated records and information management.
The discussion will also highlight how Canadian perspectives were incorporated into the work, ensuring the updated Principles® remain globally relevant while accounting for regional and jurisdictional needs.

Speakers

Ellie Kim is a Senior Consultant at Alberta Health Services, based in Calgary, with extensive experience in the government, finance, and healthcare sectors. A former Director on the ARMA International Board (2021–2025), she continues to lead the profession as Chair of both Principles and IGP Campaign working groups, a member of the Elections Committee, and Certifications Oversight Committee. Ellie holds a Master of Archival Studies and maintains several designations, including IGP, CIP, PMP, CSM, and CSPO.

Dr. Darra Hofman is an Assistant Professor and MARA Program Coordinator at San José State University. Her research explores the intersection of recordkeeping, technology, and law. She is the Principal Investigator for the Mozilla-funded CIRCLE Project and an active leader within ARMA International, currently chairing the ARMA Glossary Working Group. Dr. Hofman holds a PhD from UBC, an MSLS from the University of Kentucky, and a JD from Arizona State University.

Rick Stirling, President and CEO of WesternIM, is a distinguished leader with 30 years of dedicated service to the RIM profession. An ARMA Fellow and founding contributor to the IGP Certification, Rick has a deep history of implementing foundational electronic records solutions. His current work bridges the gap between traditional information governance and emerging technologies, focusing on applying AI to improve clarity and efficiency in complex information environments.
